texto:

Altough I am not afro-brazilian I fell I can at least give my impression about the subject, and even though I do not hold academic credentials as proof of wisdom I think they can at least point one’s interests, and what kind of books and studies he dived into.

That being said, I am postgraduate in criminology , and my postgraduate article was about “labelling approach”.

What I can add is that being black puts you in disadvantage in most interactions with “the system”, but the problem seems to be much worse in USA. Miscigenation is higher in Brazil, and that makes being a racist more challenging, since most of the time you will not be interacting with people a racist would consider “purebreed”. Also, the idea of what is considered black or white here in Brazil is based on visual instead of genealogy like in USA (to us it is puzzling how a guy that has white skin can be considered black), and that may put less pressure on racial issues. Other thing is law enforcement, it is virtually impossible to find true racists there in Brazil, since there are all kinds of racial background in the police force.

I could go on, but those points above should be enough to answer the question.
